The ICAO USOAP Audit, which lasted from 05-14 April 2011, was concluded at a meeting where experts from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) thanked the representatives of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Directorate of Civil Aviation (BHDCA) for their cooperation and presented the new approach to continuous safety monitoring.

“Preliminary results of the 10-day ICAO Audit will be submitted in 90 days, after which the BHDCA will develop a corrective action plan for any identified deficiencies and will have 9 months to eliminate the deficiencies. After the nine months have passed, a Final Report of the ICAO USOAP Audit will be released and also published on the official BHDCA website”, said Ms. Danijela Popovic, the National Safety Oversight Coordinator.

As a reminder, Bosnia and Herzegovina, as an ICAO Member State, is subject to periodic audits by this international organization within the Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme - USOAP, which includes a comprehensive system approach to reviewing legislation in the field of civil aviation, the organization of civil aviation authorities, competent aviation bodies in the country, as well as specific aviation fields: PEL -  Personnel Licensing, OPS – Operations, AIR - Airworthiness, AIG – Air Accident and Incident Investigation, AGA – Airports, and ANS - Air Navigation Section.

The Audit was, for the most part, conducted at the BHDCA Headquarters in Banja Luka, while the visits to the industry and the ANS Provider took place in Sarajevo.

The Audit for Bosnia and Herzegovina was performed by five ICAO experts in the specific aviation functional areas.
