Aviation Security

In aviation, a distinction is made between the terms “safety” and “security”:
Safety covers all measures intended to preserve technical and operational reliability, whilst security includes protection against unlawful acts of interference such as terrorist attacks and hijacks.
Aviation security, in the context of protection against unlawful acts of interference in civil aviation, is implemented fully in accordance with national laws, by-laws and adopted programmes, based on international standards prescribed by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) (Document 30) and European Union.
The Aviation Security Section shall be responsible for the monitoring of international standards and recommended practice in the area of aviation security and for their implementation in the national legislation, as well as for the development of the National Security Programme of BIH, monitoring of its implementation, and for conducting regular and irregular audits.
