On October 5 and 6, 2021, the Bosnia and Herzegovina Directorate of Civil Aviation will host and organise meetings of expert teams and the Steering Board of the Regional Aeronautical Search and Rescue Advisory Committee (RASARAC).
The meetings will be attended by more than 30 participants from member states and representatives of observer countries, as well as guests of the Directorate, i.e. institutions and organisations involved in the search and rescue system in the event of an aircraft accident in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Bosnia and Herzegovina, i.e. the BHDCA, has chaired this Committee since 2020. It was established in 2016, and consists of seven countries with full membership (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Hungary, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Slovakia) and five observer countries (Bulgaria, Croatia, Poland, the Czech Republic and Austria). It is a European civil aviation search and rescue (SAR) forum, supported by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and EUROCONTROL.
The Committee was established with the aim of improving cooperation in the field of search and rescue, creating a legal framework by adopting the required documents and procedures for cross-border cooperation, and performing joint exercises, training and other forms of cooperation in the field of civil aviation.
