On 7 July 2022 the Bosnia and Herzegovina Directorate for Civil Aviation, as the civil aviation authority in Bosnia and Herzegovina competent to coordinate, supervise and control the quality of the work of search and rescue services in civil aviation, organised in Banja Luka a workshop addressing the general layout of the search and rescue system in the event of an aviation accident (SAR) in the regulatory and functional context with special reference to the SAR system in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as part of the activities on the establishment, reorganisation and expansion of the SAR system in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The lecturers at the workshop were Mr. Nikola Šarančić, Head of the Rescue Coordination Center of the Republic of Serbia and Chairman of the ICAO EUR SAR Task Force, and Mr. Miloš Komlenić, Head of the Rescue Coordination Center of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The workshop was attended by representatives of institutions and organisations involved in the search and rescue system in the event of an aviation accident in Bosnia and Herzegovina with which the BHDCA has signed agreements, as well as representatives of those institutions and organisations with which similar agreements are to be signed, such as the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Helicopter Service of the Republic of Srpska, the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Bosnia and Herzegovina Mine Action Center, the Entities' and cantonal ministries of internal affairs, the mountain rescue services in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Brčko District.
Before the workshop, a second preparatory meeting was held on the topic of organising the SAR exercise that has been planned to take place in September.
